How to make Origami Paper Hearts

I'd like to show you how to make a paper heart. These are very simple to make and quite addictive once you have made your first few.

This design was one of the first in the Hilda & Dolly card range, so it’s definitely a favourite. I hope you enjoy making this heart!

Change the size of your square to create different sized hearts. This will give you a different feel to the design. Why not do a few smaller hearts in different colours. These would look great on a card!

Experiment with different papers. I especially like to use wrapping paper for these hearts but you can use any scrap paper, art paper or even wallpaper.

Collect scrap papers. I have a huge collection of scrap paper. From gift wrap, card liners and off cuttings. Nothing is wasted. I file the scrap paper by colour so I can easily pop my hand on a wonderful off cut whenever a creative spark arises.

Step 1

Cut out a perfect square. The size I use here is 10cm x 10cm.

Step 2

Make three folds in your paper as shown.

Step 3

Bring the top point down to the centre of the paper.

Step 4

Bring the bottom point up to the top edge of the paper.

Step 5

Fold one half up and over to the top edge of

the paper.

Step 6

Fold the other half up and over to the top edge of the paper to form the making of a heart shape.

Step 7

Turn your paper heart around and tuck the four upper points in.

Step 8

Turn your paper heart back around to show your finished love heart.
